Christelle Coulange with her father Maurice show the awards she has won for her wines over the past five years since she began making wine on the family estate. Until her graduation from college 6 years ago her family sold all the grapes from their vineyard to other producers. Now Christelle selects the best grapes from the premier terroirs on the estate to produce very limited quantities of the two cuvees.
A blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah, this wine is very complex and exhibits hints of red fruit and copious amounts of spices. The best grapes and terroir were used to produce only 3200 BOTTLES of wine.
This wine has more fruit on the nose and in the mouth. A blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache the wine is well balanced and the luscious fruits found in this wine can be enjoyed for the next several years. Only 1000 cases produced.
Chateau Beauchene Côtes du Rhône Village 2003 Vignoble de la Vialle Red A blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre from vines that have an average age of 50 years, this wine is kept in Barriques for 6 to 8 months. Very full bodied with good fruit and spice this wine is my #1 selling Rhone wine. Very small production of only a few thousand cases a year.
Chateau Beauchene Côtes du Rhône 2003 Premier Terroir Red This wine has many of the characteristics of a Chateauneuf du Pape because the vineyards are bordering the Chateauneuf du Pape Appellation. A blend of 70% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre. This richness of this wine comes from Grenache vines that average 70 years old!!
Chateau Beauchene Côtes du Rhône 2003 Grande Reserve White This wine is unique in the fact that it is 100% Viognier and the fermentation has taken place in French oak barriques. The oak is hardly noticeable but there is abundance of fruit present. Well balanced the wine has a great body for a white wine. Very long finish. Limited production of a few thousand cases.
